David Thompson was the first man to find a practical trade route through the mountains to the West Coast.

He also mapped most of modern day Western Canada.

To commemorate the 200th anniversary of David Thompson's incredible journies, join your fellow paddlers from across Canada as we continue to follow in the footsteps of the greatest land cartographer of all time!

Details of the entire event are available on the 2011 David Thompson Brigade website: http://www.2011brigade.org

Please read the event description very carefully and ensure you understand the details of the re-enactment. This is a major demanding undertaking.   As well as numerous back to back long days of paddling and serious portaging, the campaign will also involve visiting the numerous communities along the route.   Participants will be encouraged to wear period clothing, sing french voyageur songs, and be true ambassadors of a time gone by.

If you are interested in participating in part or all of this event,

please contact Eric Williams at info@canoe-about.ca or call 519-396-8844 evenings and weekends.
